How drought impacts ecosystem resilience.

FEFA PhD student Robert Ngila is studying how drought impacts ecosystem resilience in communal, commercial, and conservation contexts in the Mpala region of Kenya. Using the GGG protocol to sample grassland biodiversity, and linking this with expert information on palatability and functionality of the different components of biodiversity he is able to identify degradation processes and the buffering capacity of different ecosystems as they recover from droughts.

He met with FEFA PIs Sally Archibald and Duncan Kimuyu in June to identify ways to build the functional database needed to inform his work.
