Developing common frameworks for managing tropical grassy ecosystems

FEFA researchers Sally Archibald and Frances Siebert contributed to an international workshop drawing together insights from Australia, South America, and Africa on state-and-transition models for tropical grassy ecosystems. These models are used to engage managers on the consequences of different interventions, and to understand the consequences of global change drivers. Workshop participants shared data on fire and vegetation responses, and developed new coordinated conceptual models.

This represents the first time that these communities have met to integrate understanding since 2009. It is the beginning of a 5-year program that will drive stronger south-south collaboration and coordinated approaches to land restoration.
