Integration of ocean-based adaptation and mitigation actions into regional and national climate policies in Africa
Africa is a region shaped by the ocean, as only 16 of the 553 sovereign countries in Africa are landlocked states. The countries have approximately 26,000 km of coastlines, 6.5 million square kilometres of the continental shelf, and about 13 million square kilometres of exclusive economic zones.
